1000 Days and Forever
Installation
1000 Days and Forever was an installation and memorial exhibition created by Melati Suryodarmo to honor her father, Suprapto Suryodarmo, one thousand days after his passing. Within the spiritual framework of the ceremony and the islam, the thousandth day marks a threshold: the moment when the spirit completes its passage from this world, after a period of presence, farewell, and transition.
Presented at ICI Art School, the installation brought together archival materials, interviews, films, personal objects, costumes, and documents tracing Suprapto’s life, artistic practice, and philosophy of movement in relation to nature.
Inés Somellera was invited to participate in the project and created the film 1000 Days and Forever, dedicated to the exhibition and to his legacy. Through this collaboration, the work became part of a larger act of remembrance, honoring the continuity of an artistic life beyond physical presence.
