Hari Ini
Dance performance
2007
Hari Ini is a 50-minute dance work in three parts: solo, duet, and trio. Built around an elegant, sober visual language in which stage, light, costume, and sound create an interior landscape. Suspended transparent forms seem to breathe above the performers, while an outlined circle of light gradually expands until an open horizon appears in the final section, suggesting emancipation and possibility. The costumes, in soft natural tones, move like a second skin: at times restrictive, at times freeing.
The work emerges from Hartati’s ongoing inquiry into women’s condition and the question of why it remains unchanged. It is shaped by three impulses that guide the piece: to live only for today, to think positively, and to act with sincerity, or wait with patience. Developed through a long-distance creative collaboration across four countries, Hari Ini was conceived as an organic process of shared artistic germination.
